Things to see

Krka National Park

This national park is very rich in flora and fauna. It is known for beautiful waterfalls, and the most famous are Skradinski buk and Roški slap. You can explore the park using boat or on foot, walking over wooden bridges. Recommended visit is during spring and summer.

Turina fortress

Visovac

Visovac is a small island in the national park Krka with a church, Franciscan monastery with a rich library and the interesting museum. The island is known for beautiful nature, almost 200 plant species and interesting animals, such as peacocks or turtles.

Roški slap

This waterfall is the sixth cascade on the Krka River. It got the name after the Rog hill-fort (“Rog” = horn). It is very interesting due to its cascades, which are called the “necklace” because of the lush vegetation, mills and pillars.

Bribirska Glavica – Croatian Troy

This is monument of the highest category and one of the most important archaeological sites in Croatia. It is known among archaeologists as the “Croatian Troy”. Located in Bribir, 15 kilometers from Skradin, this was the center of the Croatian state in the 13th century.

Burnum

Burnum was an ancient Roman military camp. You can visit the remains of this locality in the settlement of Ivoševci, which is about 19 km from Knin. The locality has two units – two arches of the main entrance (porticus principia)  – known as Šuplja crkva (Hollow church), and an amphitheatre from the 1st century.

St. James Cathedral

This gothic-renaissance cathedral from 15th century is included on UNESCO’s World Heritage list. It was built entirely from stone by famous Juraj Dalmatinac and it contains 72 sculptures of heads on the apses. The cathedral is an unique example of renaissance realism in world architecture.
